Antique Fireplaces

Nothing is as magnificent as an antique fireplace. This focal point can completely change the complexion of any room. If you have a home offers substantial rooms you may want to consider adding this architectural element to your interior décor. You can find an antique fireplace in a number of places. Many demolition companies will sell items like the antique fireplace for a very reasonable price. Knowing someone who is in the business is ideal. I have a dear friend who built his from the foundation up. His wife loves decorative elements from other eras, especially things with a Victorian flair. Of course, an antique fireplace was on the top of her list.

Fortunately, her brother is in the demolition business. He basically tears down old structures to make way for new ones. You would be very surprised to discover the beautiful pieces of architecture he has managed to salvage and restore to their former grand state. When she asked for an antique fireplace he got to work looking at his upcoming projects.

There was a project that involved an old Victorian home that boasted five lovely antique fireplaces. Some of them were very intricate in design and a couple had marble accents as well. There was a slight problem with this particular set of architectural salvageable items. She had to wait an entire year to get one.

I don’t know how she managed to look at the gaping hole in her family room for as long as she did but the year slowly passed. She kept bugging her brother to step up the project but he had a set schedule. The antique fireplace would have to wait until he was on that particular job. This was a painful wait for my friend.

Now that the antique fireplace from the Edwardian era is set in place I can see why she decided to bide her time. She wound up with one of the most striking interior elements I have ever encountered. The magnificent item is the first thing you see when you enter the room. The antique fireplace is also the last thing you see. You just have to turn around to give it another look before exiting.

Her whole experience has me a little envious but I’m not quite so patient as my friend. I decided to go another route and purchase my antique fireplace online. I did spend a lot more but I didn’t have to invest precious time in the process. Some things are just worth the money.
